Please welcome our new Glitzy Chick,

                   Carol Stevens

                   Welcome Carol !

Red Hat Day, Breakfast and Meeting.
We had another full table in the backroom of the RT7 Diner.
Breakfast was great as was the conversation.

We started our meeting with letting everyone know we can no longer order the red visors from the place Linda ordered them before.  If anyone still wants one please shop around and find one keeping in mind the part for the embroidery has to wide enough for the lettering.  If you find one and bring it to Linda she will take it over to be stitched.  She will let you know the cost.
Linda is putting the order in for the tee shirts this Thursday or Friday.  We are getting a bulk rate price on them now.  Should you decide later you would like one the price will be higher.  If you still want one and have not been in touch with Linda please do so before Thursday this week.
PLEASE  NOTE, THE SHIRT ORDER HAS BEEN SUBMITTED AND IS NOW CLOSED FOR ORDERING
We then addressed the newsletter and emails.  Linda takes a great deal of time doing these for us.  Then she hears that some can't open them, some can't find the blog and some don't like the format.  Ink and postage is expensive  Each year I give Linda 50.00 from our dues fund to HELP cover some of this.  As we all know that is about one ink cartridge.  Now we will try another way as the group keeps expanding as does the problems they are having getting the emails and newsletter.  Linda will post the newsletter on the blog and send an email when it is posted.  She will print off a few to pass out when we have a meeting.  If you would rather have one mailed to you and also the emails please supply Linda and I with self addressed and stamped envelopes.  Please keep in mind the newsletter takes two stamps.  We will have a 50/50 at our meetings and our part of the money will go towards paper and ink.  One of us will mail out any correspondence to whoever has given us the envelopes.
This should prove to be fair to everyone.
Our upcoming events are,
May  Our black and pink event that Chucky and Ade are doing.
Brenda is trying to plan a dinner and will let us know what the date and time and place is.  I am not sure
if she is thinking May or June.
June  Janet Carroll is doing an event on June 27th for Celebrating July 4th

July Chucky and Barb are planning a polka dot lunch.
Also one of our Chicks is thinking of something in her yard.  Judy is thinking of a dinner.  We were thinking
another swap party like Ade had last year would be fun.  We all had such fun at hers.  Would anyone be
interested in hosting it?  We have been thinking a bus trip would be fun.  There are plans in the
works for an event by another group in Sept that we will be invited to.  Many of our Chicks are planning on attending the convention in Pa.  Another event for the holiday season is in the works.  Many things
are coming up.  If you have any ideas for August or into the fall please let us know.
Carole Stevens attended as a new member.  We have a pink hatter who is joining us.  There are
a few applications out.  We are still growing!
That about sums up our meeting and everyone was off in many different directions to finish off a fun Saturday.
Thank Marty for a terrific summary of our meeting.

Red Hatters:
I would like to invite you to visit Raquette Lake, New York in Hamilton County in the West Central portion of the Adirondack Mts.  There are so few people living year round in Hamilton County they say there are more bears there than people!  There also are no traffic lights in this county!  It is a very unusual place to visit.
The reason I would like to take you there is to take a luncheon cruise on the WW Durant, a lovely ship that will take you around the unusual lake that has 99 miles of shoreline.  Most of the area is owned by NYS so it is forever wild and not commercialized.  There are quite a few summer places on the lake that can only be reached by boat.  Their mail is delivered by boat!
A lovely luncheon will be served during the 2 hour cruise.  The chef is a graduate of the Culinary Institute so whatever is served will be delightful.
When we return to the village, I have added a half hour for you to visit the Raquette Lake Supply Co. that is very unique.  Inside they sell camping supplies, souvenirs, hardware, groceries, a butcher shop, a soda fountain, etc. in this building that was built in 1901.  The building is also a bakery, a tap room, and upstairs a hotel.
Next we will go 4 miles to visit the 1903 Great Camp Sagamore which has a lot of history.  It was William West Durant's last and greatest camp.  Unfortunately he only owned it for a short time and was forced to sell it as he was overextended.  It was purchased by the Vanderbilts.  There is quite a story about the history of this camp that will be told to you during your tour.
The details of the trip are as follows:
Friday, October 2, at 8:45 AM we will meet at Latham Farms.  Park near Walmart.
We will make a rest stop at McDonald's in Warrensburg.
We will arrive at Raquette Lake around 11:30 AM and board the boat at that time.
The cruise will last from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
It is a short walk to the Raquette Lake Supply Co. or you might choose to visit the
the red caboose gift shop near the boat dock where everything sold there was
           made in the Adirondacks.
Finally we will drive the short way to the Sagamore Great Camp for a tour of the
great camp as well as the many out buildings from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM.
We will leave for home shortly after this tour and again stop at the McDonald's in
           Warrensburg.
We should be home by 7:30 PM.
The cost of the complete trip is $82 based on 30 people.  If more sign up, there will be a slight refund.  At this time I am asking for a $30 deposit at the time of your reservation.  I will cash all the checks and keep the money locked in my safe until needed.  On June 1 I would like the final payment of $52.
Please make your check payable to Edrie M. Pregent, and send it to 196 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, NY 12054.  My telephone is(518) 439-3797 and e-mail is EdrieP@gmail.com.
