Black Hat Diamond Diva Minutes from our Luncheon Meeting

We had a very productive meeting!

Our members discussed having a Breakfast at Tiffany's Brunch at the Italian Amerian Community Center and all in attendance decided to go ahead and it is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, 2016

Also discussed was having a Ringing in the New Years Speakeasy Bash on November 26th, Having the event in November we will be avoiding conflicts with dates in December when we have holiday parties and family gatherings happening.  The members approved having this event and plans are under way to find a venue to accommodate our group.  We are reaching out to all Diamond Divas, if you have a place in mind that has a private room to host our bash, please email Linnie and she will contact the place.  We have several places we have already looked into but would appreciate other options you might know of.  Barb De Marco brought up several suggestions and Lin is looking into them.

Linnie started collecting dues for our sorority this year to help off set event expenses that we will have during the year.  Marty explained to the group that dues and money from 50/50 drawings will be going towards the Bringing in the New Year Speakeasy Bash to pay for entertainment, decorations and other costs.  The members agreed that the collection of dues is a good idea to put towards our future event.

Next on the meeting agenda was the Mom Prom event on April 29th. Vicky Holly and Barb DeMarco will be hosting a pre prom party at Vicky's home which will certainly get the partying started.  They will be having snacks, wine and cheese and asked if any of the group wanted to bring something to share, please let them know.  If you plan on attending, please send your check to Vicky Holley in the amount of 55.00.

We have reserved two limos for the evening. One car is already filled and there is room for 6 more ladies in the other car.  the price per person is 43.50 each which includes the tax but does not include the driver tip for the evening.  We can rent more limos if need be.  Please send your check to Linnie if you are planning on the limo ride.

Marty mentioned that National Red Hat Day is planned for April 25th.  If you are planning on attending, please send you checks made payable to the Spindle City Divas, the information on who to send to if posted on the blog, in the  Glitzy Chicks January News.

Sue Asher spoke to the group about the Valentine Party, Janet Carroll and Sue are planning for the Glitzy Chicks.  Please let Sue or Janet know if you are planning on attending.  The information is listed in the Glitzy Chicks January News on the blog.

Lin also mentioned that the Black Hat Banshee Beauts are hosting an April in Paris Black Hat event on April 8 and 9, at the Embassy Suites in Saratoga.  Please contact Judy Pinto if you are planning on attending this event.  Information is posted on the blog under Black Hat Diamond Divas January Newsletter.

Barb and Tina brought up a great suggestion on having a night at the races program.  It sounds like a fun thing to do as part of one of our events or as a separate event.  Briefly,  Guests can contribute to name the horses and then watch them race. If their horse wins, they’ll win even more! When played along with our casino games, guests bet on the horses with chips or play money. When the Races are over, they can buy raffle tickets that they can use to win prizes.  Check it out on line, it is listed on night at the races program.

We had a 50/50 and our winner was Marty.  Half of the winnings went into our Ringing in the New Years fund.

Meeting adjouned after we enjoyed our complimentary cannolis.  We had a waiter who never worked the lunch crowd.  He will never be the same, but he did enjoy waiting on the Diamond Divas and posing for his picture.

Plans are underway for a party bash in November! (yes, November)

By the time 2016 winter rolls back around again and with the New Year getting closer, the Diamond Divas want to get the party started early and invite you to join us at the Speakeasy- End of Prohibition Bash. Bring on the Glitz and Glamour of the 1920’s and Jazz Years Era.

Come as a flapper or come as you are, Dress up as a gangster or even a screen star, it will be a fun evening, just bring yourself, in your Black Hat Attire and Bling, if that is your desire.   Our afternoon will include a seated luncheon, vendor jewelry and holiday gift shopping, 50/50, door prizes, favors, music and dancing and photo opts.

If you are interested in attending this future event, please let Linnie and Marty.  We are asking for your response now in order us to better plan the day as well reserving the venue and room for the event.

MOM PROM April 29th Friday Evening

MOM PROM – APRIL 29^TH   AT MALLOZZI’S IN ROTTERDAM

Vicky Holley and Barb DeMarco brought a fun suggestion to our group. The Mom Prom, Friday April 29th 6:30 at Mallozzi’s.   At our Catch Your Breath Lunch last Saturday, Vicky went over some of the details of the Prom with the group.  This event is hosted by the Zonta Organization as a fund raiser for local service organizations. 

Presently, Vicky has reserved 2 tables of ten for us. She will be able to reserve more tables if we need them.  Our cost per person for the Event is $50.00 per person plus $5 donation to Zonta specifically from our R H group.  If we don’t have 20 registrants,(at our luncheon last Saturday, 14 indicated they wanted to go)-  Darla, Vicky’s contact at Zonta, fill seats for us to round off the two tables so we get the lower table of ten price anyways.   She needs our minimum count commitment from Vicky by February 20^th.

We have looked into renting a Limo to drive us from Vicky’s home to Mallozzi’s.  The price is 43.50 including tax but we would need to add a tip for the driver.  We currently have 10 ladies signed up for the limo which is rented from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. Presently, we have one limo filled and working on filling the second limo. For your information,  The limo will pick up our group at Vicky Holley’s home and drop us off at Mallozzi’s and then will come back to pick us up after the prom to drive us back to Vicky’s. The limos seat 8 people and the company has many limos they will rent. The larger vehicles that seat more than 8 are more expensive to rent.  .

Please contact Linnie by February 1^st if you are planning on riding in the limo and send her your check in the amount of 43.50, in order for her to secure the number of limos we will need that evening.

Our chapter is invited to solicit a vendor to donate a basket for raffle if we want to. Or the Chicks could put a basket together directly from us-no obligation. Is anyone interested in being responsible for this - if so, let Vicky know in a note or email.

Vicky and Barb are planning on hosting a pre prom party at Vicky’s home in Niskayuna. Vicky will provide the wine and Barb is planning on bringing a cheese and cracker plate.  If you would like to bring a snack to share, please let Barb know what you plan to bring.   There is plenty of on street parking for anyone who wants to double up and drive together to the Prom.

If you are planning on attending the Mom Prom, please send your check made payable to Vicky Holley in the amount of 55.00, which will include your $5.00 donation. Once she receives all the checks, she will send in one check to Zonta for our reservations. If you have any questions regarding the prom, please contact Vicky.

There will be a 50/50, door prizes and a raffle ticket sold for a chance to win a Black Hat Blingy Basket.

For your information, the Sunday Brunch Menu selections change every Sunday. There is always a substantial variety of delicious food on the buffet. The menu could include the following; selections from the Baker’s Showcase, (an assortment of freshly baked yummy goods); Breakfast Beginnings, (eggs, breakfast meats and potatoes). Either a Belgian Waffle Station and/or Chef Attended Omelet station with a variety of cheeses, seasonal vegetables and cured meats; and a Meat Carving Station. There will be a soup and salad selection and vegetables and starch.

Villa Italia Dessert -There will be a display to include cakes, tortes, assorted pastries and cookies, fresh carved and whole fruits.  Coffee, Tea, Cranberry & Orange Juice Included.
