News from our recent Chapter meeting on 
MARCH 28TH - SATURDAY LUNCH AT SCARBOROUGH'S, ROUTE 7, LATHAM, NY

We will be meeting for lunch and also had a meeting to discuss our upcoming events. 

Chucky spoke to the group about her Black Hat and Pink Spring Fling event planned for May 16th. There is still time to purchase your reservation for this event. Chucky has 8 vendors who will be at the event and there will be a 50/50 and door prizes. 
Linnie  and Chucky spoke about the upcoming PJ Breakfast in October. The theme of the breakfast is Baseball this year.  Chucky has looked in where we can located red baseball bats and it would be great to have the same hats or visors to wear to the breakfast. Linnie has found a vendor who will screenprint shirts for our group.  She  passed around information regarding our chapter purchasing Chapter Tee Shirts. The information is posted in the newsletter below. Everyone at the meeting agreed it would be a good idea to have Tee Shirts that we can wear to events.

Marty called the meeting to order to go over what is being planned for the months ahead.

• She discussed the PA Runaway Weekend - Oct 2-4, 2015.   If anyone is interested in attending, they need to send in their registration as soon as possible.  The flyer and information is posted below in the newsletter.
• Marty how many Chicks are attending Chucky's event on May 16th and how many ladies are planning on attending the July 4th event that Janet Carroll is planning.
• She also informed the group that there will be a Lathshaw production on Oct 13th at the Hilton in Troy. The production is called Dancing in the Streets.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic

The Sparkling Scarletts would like to invite you to an early 4th of July Picnic.
Come decked out in your favorite Red, White and Blue outfit and add just a touch of red, white and blue.

Date:    June 27th

Time:    Noon until 3:30pm

Place:    Krause's Grove - 2 Beach Road, Halfmoon, NY

Price:    $33.00 and includes the following selections: Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, French Fries, Clam Chowder, Corn on the Cob, Hot Sausage and Pepper Sandwich, Steak Sandwich, Buffalo Chicken Wingers, BBQ Spare Ribs, Cole Slaw, Macaroni Salad, Watermelon, Fresh Fruit and Yogurt Dip and raw Clams (2pm-3:30pm) with Beer and Soda.

Krauses has volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and softball fields or bring your own game to play as we celebrate our nations birthday.

There will be door prizes, 50/50 and songs to sing.

July 8 th -  SAVE THE DATE  - Kaleidoscope Polka Dot/Pastel Party 

Plans are in the works for this event. Chucky and Barbie are planning this fun summer event.  Wednesday, July 8^th is the tentative date. The event is being plan to be at the Holiday Inn Express, Latham, NY  More Information to follow. 

October 2-4  PA RED HAT CHAPTER  RUNAWAY WEEKEND  OCTOBER 

This fall, women in and around Pennsylvania will be dressing in their finest purples and adorning their most outrageous red hats as they “RUNAWAY” for a weekend with their friends and Red Hatted sisters.

The Red Hatters of “La Tri O” will be hosting the14^th Annual RED HAT “RUNAWAY” on October 2,3,& 4, 2015 at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center in Scranton, PA. 

La Tri O has planned an all-inclusive “RUNAWAY WEEKEND” package, which includes:

• Deluxe hotel accommodations for 2 nights
• Friday afternoon Welcome Reception 
• Cocktail Hour on Friday and Saturday with open bar and hors D’oeuvres
• Buffet Dinner on Friday
• Plated dinner on Saturday
• Breakfast Buffet Saturday and Sunday
• Parking, taxes & gratuities

The overnight all-inclusive package prices are only $410.00 single occupancy; $590.00 double occupancy ($295.00 per person with 2 per room); $762.00 triple occupancy ($254.00 per person with 3 per room) and $936.00 quad occupancy ($234.00 per person with 4 per room).  Rates, as quoted, are per ROOM (not per person unless noted) for the entire WEEKEND and DO NOT include a $45.00 non-refundable registration fee.  All-inclusive weekend rate, without over night hotel accommodations, will be $175.00 per person. 

Individual daily rates will be ** Friday only: $85.00 ** Saturday only: $85.00 ** Sundayonly: $25.00 

The weekend’s theme will be “Life’s a Circus”.  Detailed information about the weekend’s activities will be sent following your registration.  Briefly there will be aFriday evening dinner show; “in house” entertainment Saturday; fun activities throughout the day; Saturday evening we’ll dance to the ‘big band tunes’ of “The Poets” once again; and of course there will be basket raffles, door decorating, hat contests, and vendor shopping.  All hotel amenities (swimming pool, whirlpool, and fitness center) are for your enjoyment as well.

To register please complete the attached Reservation Form and send it with a Non-Refundable registration fee of $45.00 per person.  A Chapter can register multiple participants, but please send appropriate information for each registrant.  Please indicate if you do not wish hotel accommodations. Upon receiving your registration fee, ‘La Tri O’ will make all hotel reservations on your behalf.  The hotel will collect no monies until you check out.  All reservations will be booked directly with ‘La Tri O’.

I will be taking Tee Shirt Orders at the next meeting.  I will need your check and also the size you want me to order for you.  In order to get the price of 20.00 per shirt I need to do a bulk order. We will be ordering the shirts this month.  If you decide later on that you want to purchase a shirt, you can place your individual order at DePalma's and pay the additional cost if there is one. I can not promise that you will be able to purchase the shirt for 20,00.  Thank you Linnie

Birthday Bash 2015 at Belini's

The Glitzy Chicks celebrated their Birthdays at their Annual Birthday Bash.  Fun, Raffle, and Door Prizes were part of the celebration.  It was a special afternoon spending time together as we watched the Snowflakes fall.   Thank you goes out to our Queen Marty, she organized the party, picked out our birthday charm as the favor and did up all the basket prizes and made the beautiful hand made shawls.  We had many winners and most of all we had some time to celebrate our friendship.

January 10^th – Saturday - Annual Catch Your Breath Luncheon

Place: Tops Diner – at the 5 Corners, Rotterdam, NY

What a nice way to begin our new chapter year.  22 Chicks attended and the tables were a buzz on planning stages of upcoming events in the process.  Barb and Tina are getting ready for their trip to Baltimore for a Red Hat weekend in February and we had three Chicks celebrating their January Birthdays. Sue was decked out in her Birthday Hat.

Thanks to Marty for planning this event and for the wonderful Red Hat pocket calendar; we all will put to good use adding in our future events.

Some time in Feb   Vicky, Chucky, Ade, Marty and Linnie will be meeting on what to plan for the PJ Party – Baseball theme event that is being hosted by the Mermaids in November.  More information to follow.

The Saratoga Woman’s Club Antique Show on Sunday, Feb 1st @ The Shenendehowa High School East on Route 146 Clifton Park, Cost is $3 and refreshments will be available to purchase, time is from 10 am - 4 pm, and there will be over 60 dealers.  Lots to look at, and prices are reasonable.

  

This event is a yearly benefit event that raises money for our Homeless Women Vets and Hannah’s Hope Benefit for Cancer Patients….two of the ladies in our Ripe Red Hot Tomatoe Chapter are members of this Saratoga Woman’s Club Group.  I thought some of the ladies in The Glitzy Chicks and Diamond Divas might like to attend an event like this.  Thank you Pat for letting us know about this event.  What a great way to get some shopping in before the Super Bowl begins.

Birthday Bash

We will be celebrating our birthdays on Feb 21st at Bellini’s In LATHAM starting at 2:00 in the afternoon.  The menu will be a salad course of either a greens salad with dried berries and shaved cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing or a Caesar salad.  The meal choices will be Chicken parm, pear salad, Bolognese, a chicken Panini or veg Panini.  We will be served homemade bread with a pesto olive oil and a choice of nonalcoholic beverages.  We will also have birthday cake and coffee and tea.  A cash bar will be available.  The cost will be $30.00.

Because we will be celebrating our birthdays, the dress attire for the bash is red hats and red attire.

We will also have a $10.00 birthday grab bag gift exchange for those you would like to participate.

The Black Hat Diamond Divas invite you to the Wearing of the Green Luncheon at the Stockade Inn to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.  Wear your Black Hats adorned with green accents and/or wear favorite green or a black outfit, it is up to you.

July 8 th -  Kaleidoscope Polka Dot Event – Plans are in the works for this event. Chucky and Barb D  are planning this.  Wednesday, July 8^th is the tentative date. The event will be held at the Waters Edge, Lighthouse at Freemans Bridge Road, in Scotia.  More information to follow. 

Sometime in Aug or Sept –  A Trip is being discussed to travel out  to

The I love Lucy Museum in Jamestown, ny.  Is someone interested in working on this event?  We could make this an overnight trip.  Best Western rates is about 100.00 per night double occupancy.  We could drive out, do some sightseeing, have dinner and drive back the next day.  There could be a bus tour that is scheduled to go there with one of the bus tour companies. We would have to look into that.   Please let Marty and Linnie know if this is something you are interesting in being in charge of and going on this trip.
