Note from Marty - NYC   April 7th

This is a reminder of the NYC shopping trip we talked about at the meeting.  It is with Wade tours on April 7th.  It is a shopping special of 35.00 for the trip.

Some have said they would like the trip in April and some thought they would like a later in the spring date.  We will try for another date
later but if you are interested in the April trip call Wade and make your arrangements.

After your plans are made let me know if you will be on the bus.  I will make a list of shops and addresses of the stores we have found and we hope to check out a few new ones.

See you on the bus!

GEORGIA O’KEEFFE: VISIONS OF HAWAI‘I – NY BOTANICAL GARDENS: JUNE 29

Date: June 29th

Discover the artist’s little-known depictions of the Hawaiian Islands—and the plants and landscapes that inspired them.
Pioneering American modernist Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986) conveyed a distinct sense of place with innovative depictions of her surroundings, from stark New Mexican landscapes to New York cityscapes. Yet flowers and plants were subjects that engaged O’Keeffe throughout her career. Curated by Theresa Papanikolas, Ph.D., of the Honolulu Museum of Art, this landmark exhibition will offer a rare focus on 20 of O’Keeffe’s depictions of Hawai‘i from a nine-week sojourn in 1939 commissioned by the Hawaiian Pineapple Company to create artwork for an advertising campaign.
A lush exhibition in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory of Hawaiian flora and a stunning display in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library Art Gallery that includes more than 15 of O’Keeffe’s Hawai‘i paintings—not seen together in New York since their debut in 1940—will spotlight a transformative experience in the legendary artist’s life, revealing O’Keeffe’s deeply felt impressions and the enduring influence of the Islands’ dramatic landscapes and exotic plants.

Chicks Chapter Meeting Minutes of 2/8/18

Minutes from the 2/8/18  Meeting

Hello Chicks,

Here is a review of our busy meeting last week.

Some asked for the Chicks Red Hat Society number.  It is 46224.

We reviewed upcoming events.

Feb 10th the paint and sip.  This has already happened and looks like everyone had a great time.

Feb 18th will be our Red Hat Wedding of the year.

March 17th will be the show at GE theater.  I will check for reservations for dinner before for the twelve attending.

We discussed many possible events for spring and summer. The Chicks will be BUSY!

Some not able to attend the meeting sent me suggestions and those attending had many ideas.

We need to watch Heritage House for events.

I will look into a tea at Miss Lodeman's tea room in Sharon Springs.  Lots of interest in this.  We can make a day of it with shopping and tea.  Many are interested in a shopping trip to NYC.  Wade has a bargain trip at $35.00 on April 7th.  We will need to decide if it will be warm enough then or do we want to wait until May.  There was also some interest in going to the Stormville flea market again.  We also talked about going to Stockbridge Ma. and the Norman Rockwell Museum and perhaps lunch on the patio at The Red Lion Inn.  Another suggestion was the JFK library in Ma.  Vicky is looking into a Peddle and rail excursion in North Creek.  Lots of interest in this and it sounds like a great day.  Vicky offered to look into more information for us.  Lynn is looking into places to hold a "Mom Prom" for the chicks and other groups.  She would like it to be kaleidoscope colors and she will let us know what she comes up with.  There is also a bus trip to the NY fairgrounds for a Chinese Lantern Festival which looks interesting but would be a long day.

We finished our meeting still wondering who Tony is and will we meet him soon!

February 18, 2018  - Tony and Tina's Wedding

The day is fast approaching with the anticipation of the exchanging of
vows of Tony and Tina
This love story began back in August 2017 when Tina took a face book quiz and the love forecast predicted that she would be married on February 18, 2018 and it would be a marriage of true blissful love.
Please join us in helping bring her love prediction come true and join us
Wedding Date:    Sunday February 18th
Time:                   Noon until 3PM
Place:                   Salty’s Pub
Guest Attire:        Purple and Red
Tina Sawyer will be our Tina and we are on the lookout for Tony!  Will her prediction come true?  Will Tony show up? Who is this Tony? Will Tina be left at the Altar? Will it be happy ever after? Will there is Drama? We will all have an opportunity to get in involved in this fun faux wedding.

Based on a traditional Italian-American wedding and reception, this original comedy play of the same name was staged as an evening of nuptials for two Italian-American families from different sides of the tracks. There will be an opportunity for you to play a part in wedding party.  You might opt to walk Tina down the aisle, maybe the person who will opt to perform the ceremony, or the person who will hold Tina back if Tony decides to run!   Anything can happen at a wedding!
Please bring a wrapped food gift as a wedding present  for the gift table. It will later be donated to the Bride’s favorite charity.

If you are planning on attending, please contact Marty Deschaine by February 1st.
