January 2019, can you believe it!
Well
it not take long before us to Catch our Breath at yesterday’s lunch as several gals
already had great suggestions on what to do for upcoming events. Pat Montgomery
discussed her Mad Hatter’s Valentine Tea on February 10th and Ade
and Chucky talked about what will be happening at the Wretched Excess Tea at
Linnie’s on January 19th. Lynn Martin’s Kalidoscope Formal Dinner is
coming up on March 22nd and will include entertainment by a local DJ
to get us up on the dance floor. Sue and Janet are is the process of hosting a
Mardi Gras Luncheon on March 5th, where the attire will be Black Hat
with Mardi Gras colors.
Additionally,
there were suggestions of organizing short hikes around the area that Ade and
Vicky are thinking about having. They will be spontaneous, “spare of the moment”
hikes, weather permitting. They will let us know when and where and if we are
interested in joining in on the hike, you will be asked to meet at a certain place
and time. The hikes will be “no hat
wearing” but comfortable footwear and hiking attire is suggested. Ade and Vicky will let us know when the hikes
will be.
Also
mentioned potential events are: the walk across the Hudson, visit to Hyde Hall and
lunch at the Otesaga in Cooperstown.
Other
information that was shared at this luncheon by those attending was
Tina Sawyer is
doing terrific after her hip replacement. Tina walked into the diner on her
own, no walker or cane! I am sure in no
time Tina and her traveling Buddy Barbie will be on the road again for their next
adventure.
Marilyn Cross is
looking forward to her vacation in Florida she will be leaving here some time
in January.
Ade and Chucky will
be leaving for their trip to Pocono’s this coming week, they are often off to
take in the sights of some place new.
I apologize if I
missed any other information that was shared at the table. I think everyone is ready to have the New
Year begin and have the Christmas Holiday behind us!
Although,
December was a party filled month for both the Chicks and Divas. Beginning with
Dec 5th
Lynn Martin’s annual Christmas Par with Lynn being our hostess ty then on to
Dec 19th
The Sparkling Scarletts Annual Holiday Party with Janet and Sue being our
hostess’ then on to
Dec 28th
Time to Enjoy the Bubbly – New Years Party with Judy and Pat as our hostess’
Thank you for
hosting such fun and festive events for us all to enjoy!

January 19th -Wretched Excess Party - Noon until 3 PM
Black Hat Casual Attire
What an
interesting and fun way to begin the new year by removing excess from our
closets and homes! Ade and Chucky are planning a Wretched Excess Party at
Linnie Pflieger’s home at 336Shirlwood Drive, Schenectady, NY 12306. Her phone is 518-355-3334 home and 528-727-4380
cell.
Here’s
how the Wretched Excess Party works: Each person attending brings up to
five (5) items she no longer wants. Items can be clothing, shoes, accessories,
jewelry, home goods, or red or black hat items are welcome. The items must be
in good to excellent condition and usable; i.e. no junk! We will have a
lottery where each gal will draw the same number of tickets as the number of
items she brought. Tickets will be numbered and gals will “shop” according to
the numbers on their tickets.
Please note, If you have more items that you want to bring over the 5
items for the lottery game, you are more than welcome to do so.
Any
leftover items will be donated to the Mohawk Opportunities’ Community Donation
Table for the homeless, domestic violence clients and those who are mentally ill.
Tea, coffee,
tea sandwiches, and dessert will be served by Linnie. Please RSVP to Ade or
Chucky by January 10th if you are planning on attending.

Join us for a Valentine’s Day
Date: Sunday, February 10, 2018
Time: Noon until 3 pm
Place: 849 Londonderry Road, Schenectady, NY 12309
Attire: Mad Hatter Theme or one of the Alice in Wonderful
Character is optional, or you might want to choose to Black and/or Red Attire
including a Hat of your choice. Decorating a hat in the Mad Hatter’s Theme
might be fun to do. Hats are a must!
Pat will be serving tea sandwiches, cookies and tea. If each person could bring a small dessert
for the dessert table, it would be appreciated.
To add more for fun to this Mad Hatting Day, we are to play
the Pound Game, which will include a raffle. Please bring a wrapped item
that weighs a pound. In giving a pound or pounding was an
old-fashioned way (this custom dates back to the Quakers) to help someone by
stocking their pantry or as a wedding gift. But for our party game, the items
can be anything but it can only weigh a pound.
If you
are planning on attending, please call Pat Montgomery at 518-370-2117 by
February 1st.
